Toor dal-1 cup
Curry leaves- 4 nos
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Asafoetida- a big pinch
Green chillies-4 nos(cut int two pieces)
Red chillis-2 nos
Turmeric powder-2 pinch
Take dal in a bowl and wash it.Add some water to the dal and keep it aside.Wash,peel and cut the bottle gourd into medium size pieces.
Heat a pan and oil to it.When the oil is hot add the mustard seeds,cumin seeds, and fry till they splutter.Now add the asafoetida and curry leaves fry well.
Bring it to a boil and then transfer to a serving bowl.
Serve hot with plain rice and any pickle as side dish.
