Crab Curry / Peethalu Iguru


Crabs-3 nos
Onions-4 nos medium size
Garlic-8 cloves
Ginger -small pieces
Red chilli powder-3 tbsp
Garam Masala powder-1 tsp
Egg-1 no
Jaggery-1 tsp
Turmeric powder-2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil-3 to 4 tbsp


Clean the crabs,only body and claws are used (the crab claws can be lightly cracked and the body cut into half,to facilitate eating).
Cut the onions into chunks.
Grind onion,garlic,ginger a fine paste.
Heat oil on medium heat and add onion past.Fry till the onion paste turn brown.
 Now add crab fry for 2 minutes.Now add some water over the crabs or sufficient to just cover it.

Now add turmeric powder,chilli powder,garam masal powder,Jaggery and salt.
Cover and cook over moderate heat till the crabs are cooked well and the gravy is thickness to your required consistency.
Now add the egg and mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with plain rice.

divya awesome presentation.i liked the running crabs.i used to prepare the crab masala but the recipe is so different.will try this too..never bought the whole crab only here made with crab legs..very well explained the cleaning and making process..good one divya.always appreciable ..
