Godhuma Upma / Wheat Rava Upma
Ingredients:-
Wheat Rava -1 1/2 cup
Onion-1 (finely chopped)
Tomato -1 large
Ginger- 1" pieces (finely chopped)
Green Chillies-5 to 6 nos
Curry leaves-few
Water-3 3/4 to4 cups
Oil-2 tbsp
Ghee-1 tsp
Salt to taste
For Seasoning:-
Mustard Seeds-1 tsp
Bengal Gram-1 tbsp
Black Gram Dal-1 tbsp
Hing-1/2 tsp
Method:-
Heat a pan add 1 tsp ghee and fry the rava ,on a moderate heat,stiring constantly to light brown color and set aside.
Heat oil in a cooking pan,add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.Add Bengal gram,black gram,curry leaves ,hing and saute them till the dals turn red and nice aroma comes the kitchen. Add the green chillies,chopped onions,ginger pieces and saute for 5 minutes.
Add the chopped tomatoes and saute on medium heat for 4 mins.Add salt and water and bring to a boil before adding the wheat rava.
Now ,reduce heat and slowly add the wheat rava to the water and mix it continuously so that lumps don't form and it combines well with the water.
Cover with lid and let it simmer for 12 mins.Turn off heat.Combine well.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with chutney or pickle of your choice.
when my in laws were here everyday i will make this. never tried adding tomato.healthy breakfast

ReplyDeleteIts good and healthy but I always prefer to add all vegetables to it like carrot,cauli flower, potato,tomato,green peas.Believe me its really delicious.
