Ingredients:-
Red gram dal/Tur Dal / Kandi Pappu-1 cup(wash and pressure cook and mash it to smooth)
Dried Mangoes-4 to 5 nos (wash and boiled)
Red chillies-3 to 4 nos de-seed and tear
Garlic Cloves-5 nos (cut into pieces)
Mustard Seeds-1 tsp
Cumin Seeds-1/2 tsp
Hing-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-few
Salt to taste
Method:-
In a pressure cooker,place dal and add 1 1/2cup water and in a separate bowl put dried mangoes and add water pressure cook up-to 4 to 5 whistles.(Take a micro-safe bowl add water and put in the dried mangoes and cook for 10 to 15 minutes by now the dried mangoes will boil and become soft,now keep it aside.)
Once the pressure is down,remove the lid from the cooker and mash with back of the laddle or whisk.Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel,add mustard seeds as they splutter,add cumin seeds,red chillies,garlic pieces,curry leaves and hing and stir fry for till garlic changes the color.
Now add the boiled dried mangoes cook for 3 minutes.Now add the pressure cooked dal along with salt and combine well.
Cook on slow to medium flame for 10 minutes without lid or till you get the consistency of your choice.
Serve with white rice,a stir fry dish.
I make it using endu mamidi vorugulu...dried mango pieces....and i love it!.....I just made it 2 days back....looks yumm and conforting

I usually make vethakuzhambu with dried mangoes...Nice way to use in dal esp when mangoes are not in season.
