Ingredients:-
Beerakaya (ridge gourd)-2 nos
Channa Dal-1/2 cup
Onions-1 nos
Green Chillis-3 nos
Tomato-1 big nos
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Hing- 1 pinch
Curry leaves-few
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Method:-
Wash channa dal and soak in water for half an hour.
Wash and peel skin of the ridge gourd and cut into small pieces.
Heat a oil in a pressure cooker pan.When oil is hot add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,they pops up now add hing,green chilis and curry leaves fry for 1 minutes.
Now add onions fry for 3 minutes,add tomato pieces and soaked channa dal fry for 5 minutes.
Now add ridge gourd pieces mix well and add turmeric powder,chilli pwder,salt to it mix well.
Now add 1/2 cup of water mix well and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
Wait till the pressure goes off.
Ridge gourd curry is done.
Serve with rice or roti.
Note: Curry should not be too watery or thick,see the above picture for the consistency.
Ridge gourd chana dal curry looks really good. good to go with rice.
