Maida Halwa

                                    When i saw these yummy looking Halwa at PanGravyKadaiCurry space,i immediately bookmarked it and tried them Sunday ,they came out super perfect.My husband and my friends are liked very much.

Ingredients:-


Maida Flour-3/4 cup
Sugar-1 cup
Water-2 cups
Ghee-1 cup
Cardamom Powder-1/2 tsp
Cashews- 1/4 cup
Orange Food color -2 pinch


Method:-

Heat a tbsp of ghee and fry the cashews for light brown color.Keep it aside.

Make the sugar syrup by placing water and sugar in a pan and cooking it on a medium flame for about 15 minutes,If doesn't have to be extremely sticky.

In a pan,dry the flour for about 5 minutes until it is slightly browned.

Add the butter to the flour and keep stirring until it resembles a coarse meal.

Pour the sugar syrup by ladle fulls to the flour mixture-stir until the flour thicken.

Add more sugar syrup.Re prat the above step.Continuous stirring is the key.

Throw in the browned cashews to the flour along with some more syrup.If using the food color now would be the time to add it.

Repeat until you exhaust all the sugar syrup.The halwa should come away from the sides of the pan.

After nearly 20 minutes of stirring and adding this is how it should like.Add 2 tbsp more ghee as a finishing mix well.

OMG, I am drooling over those step by step pics. Even I have it bookmarked from her blog, but haven't tried my hands yet. The process is almost like mysorep pak, you mix things one by one while stirring. What a great color and texture of the final dish. But, I was just looking at that flow of butter and re-thinking ... lol :)
